Easter Weekend

R & T did a pretty good job at documenting our Easter weekend activities!
I made my first Easter ham with a little help from Martha Stewart...it was delectable.
It made me feel domestic again...

April 17th

The Big 2-5! We started the weekend off right...after working a 40-hour week we immediately took off to Waikiki to check into our weekend get-away/relaxation station! We surfed, sunbathed, and shopped at our leisure. We ended the evening at The Cheesecake Factory, then headed over to the Sheraton for a hot tub session. Saturday seemed to last forever...which I enjoyed. We headed home on Sunday morning so we could speak at church, then our friends R & T hosted a birthday dinner in my honor, Hawaiian Haystacks followed by Rice Krispie Treats. I allowed myself to enjoy a Coke on birthday as well, so what? who cares?! Our on campus mail center was being a little uptight about our forwarding address so all of my birthday cards were under house arrest. After what seemed like weeks of anticipation, I scored big! Thanks to everyone who remembered me on my birthday! I did receive one last birthday package from Jessbabe {today!}...fully equipped with crinkled Anthropolgie catalog packing paper! Classiest package I have ever received...I loved it so much, I had to document it. I hardly ever receive care packages so I was fairly over-eager. Jessbabe's present had a lovely gold/metallic motif, all centered around this porcelain jewelry dish {she must know of my affinity for giraffe's}. Spot on Jessbabe, spot on! April 17th, 2011 was one for the books...love you all!

The Hunger Games Line Up...

Katniss Everdeen

Peeta Mellark

Gale Hawthorne

The Hunger Games is set to release March 23, 2012...so far away! I cannot wait to see Katniss in action. I'm not sold on who is set to play her, but once I see the film I usually approve. Who's with me?!

20 Seconds MacGruber!

Tommy and I were warned when we moved into our new place that if our door handle accidentally gets locked that we have to break in and unlock it from the inside. Even though we were warned we had to break in about two days in...and again on Sunday night. We thought we had learned our lesson the first time! This photo sets the scene, the rock ledge, tiny pipes, and our bandit window.

So it goes like this...Tommy stands on the rock ledge, pulls of the screen and then pushes the window open. I, then, scoot to the edge of the rock ledge, grip the tiny pipe, inch my way over on my 1" tightrope and secure my hand on the edge of the window sill.

Ok so it doesn't look too bad...it looks like 1' max between the pipe and the window. UNTIL you're looking down at the death drop below, constantly thinking things that start with "If I fell..." over and over. I can't even bare the thought of something happening to Tommy, which is why I INSIST on being the tightrope walker. Once I get to the window, it takes all my might, adrenaline to hoist myself inside. So dramatic...

Another perspective, the death drop from down below. All the while Tommy and I are pulling our break in hoax our neighbor relished in our live performance, as he was lounging topless in his recliner, starting at us out his back door. Before we started our routine we were greeted by a lovely centipede climbing on our rock ledge, ultimately compounding my fear for the evening.

I had to capture these pictures so I can always remember our funny predicaments. I was SO frustrated that night, but I am sad to say that we will be leaving our palace so we can move into TVA tomorrow. Goodbye king size bed, high-powered ceiling fan, double vanity, walk-in closet, private washer/dryer, driveway, peace and quiet, fancy "Point" neighbors {Rod & Tan}, and to our glorious view of Bikini Beach. It is hard to believe that another 4 months have come and gone...and this will probably be our last move in Hawaii. We have made so many gecko friends and have been invited to more BBQ's than we can count. Ciao!

Technically...Spring Break

Winter semester has come and gone...three months down another year to go. The atmosphere is strange. Knowing that students and friends are done with their undergrad degrees and moving back home to their various states and countries. I am jealous, yet apprehensive. What would that feel like?! Of course exciting, but with undertones of fear. Where do we go from here? I know they are sad to be leaving Hawaii, although they've been cursing this place for the last year or so. Will we be the same? I'm still so in love with Hawaii, but I will admit it does have its lack-luster moments {mainly Laie being a one-horse town}.

Of course I am still stressing over my final grades {BIG SURPRISE!!}, yet somehow I have been able to enjoy my break from school:
1. Quit drinking Coke. Ouch.
2. Started running the Malaekahana Trail--finally putting mileage on my running shoes! Found myself jamming to The Cardigans & some Alanis Morissette...rock bottom.
3. Picked up surfing. Which includes me losing my contact, finding it stuck to my face, cleaning it with my spit and successfully putting it back in while in the water! Ta-da.
4. Having zero homework.
5. Wishing I had homework so I wouldn't have so much free time!
6. Only having one chill job...instead of two.
7. Spending more than one hour with Tommy, try 5-7 hours.
8. Borrowing bikes so we could cruise Laie.
9. Watching back-to-back episodes of 30 Rock and not caring who knows it!
10. Reading more than one chapter of the Mockingjay in one sitting.

I've been telling Tommy how much I have been enjoying my days lately, all thanks to the little things.

I'm turning 25!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in 8 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I could celebrate with everyone!!!!!! You only turn a quarter of a century once!!!!! Please celebrate my birthday in true Jozie fashion: eating out for all three meals, having more dessert than necessary and loving every minute of it! {although it is on a Sunday, so celebrate on Saturday instead} Please treat yourselves to all of my favorite restaurants...in my honor! Restaurants like: Liberty Market, Chipotle, Cafe Rio, Charleston's, Granato's, Fire House Subs, Pei Wei, Settebello, Grimaldi's, Hot Dog On a Stick, Four Seasons Sushi, The Dodo, Matta's, Trio Cafe, Tucano's, Filberto's, Brick Oven Pizza, Le Parker Meridian {breakfast}, McDonald's {breakfast}, Schmidt's Bakery, Sugar House BBQ, Paradise Bakery, Costco, The Soup Kitchen, and the list goes on and on.
